Apple $100 Student Discount?
Hi, I'm thinking about buying an Apple MacBook Pro 13'' 2011 model with the intel core i5 processor, however from the Apple Store they are around $1400 (Australia). I have heard that students can get $100 discount or discount of some sort. My question is, I am in year 10 and go to a high school within Queensland; can I get discount on Apple products as a student? Thanks guys and ill give 100* to the best answer! Thanks for the answers guys! They helped heaps. My mum works at my school anyway so I'll just get her to get the discount! Cheers :)

Hey! I just bought my 13" MacBook pro a few hours ago and I am absolutely in love. I can't recommend the computer enough. In the US the student discount is only for college students. Austrailia might be different but I doubt it. I got the discount because my mom is taking a summer college class so she qualified. And I personally wouldnt do it, but apples website doesn't ask you for any proof that you're a student. So it's up to you. Good luck!:)
Apple MacBook Pro MD313LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION)
Apple MacBook Pro MD313LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION)
Just when you thought your MacBook Pro was state of the art, Apple introduces the MD313LL/A 13" MacBook Pro with new advanced processing power and graphics. New connectivity capabilities potentially speed large file transfers beyond any current connection. All MacBook Pro models are state-of-the-art. This new one takes it out to another edge. New Thunderbolt technology lets you connect high-performance peripherals and high-resolution displays to one port - with data transfer rates up to 10 Gbps. Thunderbolt is based on two fundamental technologies: PCI Express and DisplayPort. And because Thunderbolt is based on DisplayPort technology, the video standard for high-resolution displays, any Mini DisplayPort display plugs right into the Thunderbolt port. To connect a DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, or VGA display, just use an existing optional adapter. Take everything from games to CAD to HD video projects anywhere. Time makes full-screen HD video calls that are astonishingly crisp.

Help with Apple Store questions! Thanks(:?
Okay, so I plan to go to the nearest Apple Store tomorrow and buy a 13'' Macbook Pro for school. I know it comes with the programs OS X Lion and iLife, but are they already installed on the computer? If not, does an employee there install it for you? Does it cost extra for them to do that? (Brace yourself, more questions on the way)... I also plan to buy iWork so I can have Pages, Keynote, and Numbers. Again, once I buy it there will they be able to install it on the laptop for me? I think these are the last questions... ;-) Since I fall into the K-12 grade, will I get $100 off my laptop? I know this discount applies at the online store, but does it apply "in-store"? Last but not least, my grandparents will be paying for most of it (birthday present), but I want them to get the best possible price, so is there any other discount I could ask for at the store? Thanks for your help in advance. If you could answer all the questions, I'd really appreciate it! (And I will choose a best answer as well :) ) OH WAIT! Um, so is a 13-inch Macbook Pro: 2.3 GHz 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 4GB 1333MHz 320GB 5400-rpm1 Intel HD Graphics 3000 Built-in battery (7 hours)2 Reasonable computer for me? (going into 8th grade, my school has a Mac computer lab, need the apps, etc.) THANKS!

Yes, all you will need to do is to set up your connection to your isp and you will be up and running. You will get 2 disks, one is an install disk one is the application disk..Keep them and store them safely. Hold on to your receipt minimally for the warranty period and keep the box it comes in. (What I did is just keep disks and receipt in the box and put it in my closet. I want to encourage you to get familiar with your Mac in particular if this is your first mac. While I find Macs are more stable than PC, to sustain the stability, taking care of them is important. Be certain to read in your manual (oh keep it too) how to clean the mac. I use a microfiber cloth slightly moistened and with the computer off and cooled, wipe off display, key board and case being care to avoid any openings such as the slip drive ethernet port etc. Read the links below to become familiar with the mac and consider installing a very reliable maintenance software called Titanium Onyx. Right now the Onyx version for 10.7 Lion, which I suspect will be on your Mac, is in beta testing, I recommend not installing it until beta testing is finished. Check the info for the version that runs on 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and see if it will run with 10.7 Lion. If so, download it and install. I hope you thoroughly enjoy your new Mac!
13.3" Macbook Pro Core i5 (Sandy Bridge) or 17.3" HP Core i7 (Sandy Bridge)?
for those of you who own or have used an HP Laptop, how long did yours last ? I really need a new laptop for college this upcoming summer semester, and was choosing between these two: HP 17.3" @ $949 (Fry's Electronics) - 2nd Generation Core i7 @ 2.0GHz - ATI 6750 1GB GDDR5 - 750GB HD @ 5400rpm - 4GB DDR3 RAM Apple 13.3" Macbook Pro @ $1049 with Student Discount (Apple Retail Store) - 2nd Generation Core i5 @ 2.3GHz - 4GB DDR3 RAM - Intel HD Graphics 3000 - 320GB HD @ 54000rpm note: I've owned an HP laptop in the past, and had repairs done twice within a year after purchase and it was really a nightmarish thing that I do not want to go through again!!! Very heavily looking towards switching to a Mac.

You'd be taking a step down.

What should I do about my laptop situation?
I live in Columbus Ohio and plan on purchasing a laptop for school within the next couple of weeks. I want to purchase a Apple laptop since they are what I know and love. My issue is that I don't know what is the financially responsible choice. I have 2 options: 1-Purchase a new laptop online at the Apple store for a discounted $1,100 or $1,400 and receive the free 8GB iTouch 2-Purchase a used laptop at $1,200 and purchase the iTouch separately for $230. The first two laptops are the 13-inch options at this link: http://store.apple.com/us-hed/browse/home/shop_mac/family/macbook_pro?mco=MTE4NDY The other laptop is a Apple MacBook Pro with a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz processor, 4GB ram, 320GB hard drive, OS X 10.5 operating system, with a DVDRW optical drive, 15.4" screen. What should I do? which of the 3 is the best option? Please!!!

DUDE! Your link dosnt work, you need to find your school to be eligible for the laptops, so we cant see the laptops to help you! But i would think option 2, If its used it a better price for better specs
