What is Intel RST (Rapid storage technology) service for and do you need it to start up/run?
I just bought a new laptop. On the bottom right there is a small icon with a green tick that when you put the mouse cursor on it says "Intel Rapid Storage Technology".
What is this service for? Do you need it to start up or can you uninstall or disable it? Is it an essential service or an optional kinda thing?
Is a control panel for the intel drivers that control your hard drive. you can disable it if you want. It is mainly for monitoring and configuring a multi hard drive RAID setup.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver is having problem on my computer?
I have recently upgrade my system to Windows Vista and installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology (for AHCI). After doing this, it takes much longer time to start the pc and the system won't load the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver. Any suggestion?
it seems that your Intel rapid storage technology driver isn't fit for your Vista system. you can download a capable driver for your OS from here: http://www.pcdriverhelper.com/storage.html find out the suitable driver by its model and vendor. then download and install it.
Do I need Intel Rapid Storage technology for my SSD?
I have a Crucial C300; do I need Intel Rapid Storage technology? What does it even do? The drive seems pretty fast as it is, it can boot Windows in under four seconds!
it thinks of how to best store the file over the different flash module's so it can recall them quicker. said to make faster by 20% but again 2000x faster then a HDD so who cares
Is it ok to disable intel rapid storage technology?
i don't know what it is and i was just wwondering if its a required thing to load on startup? if not is ok to disable it?
Before doing that, go to this explanation page at Intel, read it, and decide if how you use your computer will be advantaged or disadvantaged by disabling it: http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/matrixstorage_sb.htm
